Can I get stuck in a Hypnosis Trance?
Never in the history of hypnosis has anyone become stuck in a trance. Some people do like the trance state so much that they resist coming out of it, but if I told you that it’s a busy day in the clinic and I will have to charge you by the minute if you want to sit there, you would come out of very quickly.
Can I be made to do something against my will?
No absolutely NOT.
In one study as far back as the1950’s 39 students who were chosen as excellent hypnotic subjects. They were given suggestions to do minor things like taking a flat mates mail and all of the students resisted the suggestion when faced with the situation. They returned to the sessions stating things like “I don’t know what it is but I don’t like you”. Many other studies have been replicated over the years at Universities around the world and all reported similar failures.
How safe is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of trance we all enter into many times during the day. It is simply a change of brain wave rates, particularly during sleep, that we all enter into and out of in the normal course of our lives.
How does it work?
Firstly, a counselling session is conducted where detailed information is gathered regarding your goals and your informed consent is obtained to continue. You then sit in a comfortable chair relax and let the hypnotherapist guide you through the process. You will still be fully aware and experience everything that is happening around you as you continue to listen to the hypnotherapist. As a matter of fact, during hypnosis your senses are heightened and you become more aware.
Hypnosis is about empowering you and letting you change your life in powerful ways.
